Simple fried spaghetti

Assalam all, This my dinner last night. Simple fried spaghetti with purple cabbage in fresh tomatoes and basil. Garnished with mint. Full of flavors. The motivation comes from the need to cook whatever is in the fridge and health conscious as well.  Colors are good for health. Each colors in the variety of food provides different nutrients that the body needs. So... there you go: orange (tomatoes) + purple (cabbage) + green (basil and mint) + some protein from the minced chicken meat for tasty flavor.

Baked pasta in white sauce

Assalamualaykum, "Meal for three, please." How I wish it is always as easy as this. Simply place an order, and the food that you wish for is served in front of you. --- Only in Jannah (heaven), insha Allah, my destination and you too. I had a tough time deciding what to cook for dinner last night. I raked through the fridge and storage for something that I can cook. I saw some curly pasta in the storage. Then, I remembered purchasing some shitake mushroom from the market the other day. And the chicken is thawed at room temperature. I started to slice the mushroom, still unsure of what to do with it. I was thinking of just to saute it and keep it refrigerated. Slice some onion, and get the griddle ready with some olive oil for saute. Then my daughter asked, "what next?". Next, I am going to boil the pasta. "What are you making?", my daughter asked again. "Not sure yet", was my simple answer. I asked her, "Can you make...

Back-to-school : Congo Bar + Aglio Olio

Assalamualaikum. Back to school. Mothers are always busy. Preparing what can brought back with the kids to their hostel. In my case, I asked the kids in a very much advance. So that I could prepare the ingredients, and prepare myself for the labor work (ouch!!!) mentally and physically. And this time, the kids opted to have Aglio Olio (perhaps because they only had a small portion the last time I made it) and Congor Bar. Atikah requested for the congo bar and Sabrina requested for the Aglio Olio. But I'm making it extra so that many more could share the feast. The congo bar recipe is simple. Atikah can now make it with very tiny supervision. The recipe is here .  For the Aglio Olio, it uses plenty of garlic (thats how I like it).  For this, I get Sabrina to sit almost like the whole morning peeling the garlic. The recipe goes : 2 handful garlics - peeled, chopped 2 stalks parsley (I added some celery as well) prawn and squid Chilli flake...

Spaghetti Goreng Sayang Selasih

Salam alaykum. What is something that is easy to cook, delicious and very generous to your stomach? To me, its the fried spaghetti. You can create variety of flavors. And today it's basil flavors. Basil or ' selasih' has a strong and wonderful taste. I like it even fresh. Growing basil is easy. It grows on seed but at times I simply replant it by planting the cut stem. And today here it is. Simply fried as usual and basil just before turning off the heat. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.......

Colourful Organic Pasta

Salam, Have you ever seen a colourful pasta??? It's my first time. I found it from a COsway store. It looks very tempting that I bought a packet of it (quite sometime already). Cooked it before but never got the chance to snap a photo of it. So, this time, I make sure I take a photo of it. Futhermore, this is the last stock available in kitchen storage. It has three colours - pink, blue and yellow. It claims that the colours are based on organic plants not artificial colours - just hope that it's true. What do I do with the pasta??? I fried it with some dry mushroom, vege and minced meat. It's lovely. The pasta itself tasted good. The ingredients: 1 handfull of pasta - boiled and dried. 2 table spoon of olive oil 1 clove of onion 2 cloves of garlic 1 red chilli - sliced 3 dried mushroom - soaked till soft and sliced 2-3 table spoon of minced beef 1 tomato diced Carrot (sliced thinly) - amount is up to your own taste Capsicum - sliced Black pepper and salt to taste Herbs fla...

1-hour plus Baked Makaroni

At almost 2pm, Sunday (4th October), I received a call from my x-classmate, Liza Salleh, she's coming for a visit, jalan-jalan raya , Alamak.... what should I serve her? Takkan kuih raya je kot .... tak best la ... A search in my food cabinet found me with a packet of half opened makaroni, eggs was already on the cabinet (as I planned to bake a Prune cake ...tapi tak jadi le pulak sebab resepi lupa nak bawa balik dari opis). So I thought, a Baked Makaroni is a great idea. Further more, I have wanted to eat this for quite sometime. Ini la masanya, selalu masak, makan sorang je, because other member of the family did not like this so much. I used to cook Baked Macaroni with chili paste, but I remembered eating Baked Macaroni made by my MIL which uses 'rempah Kurma' and it tasted good, so, I decided to try it. Resepinya ingat-ingat lupa tapi hentam je la .... but deep in my heart I was praying that the 'hemtam je lah' recipe works ...... Amin. The ingredients: Elbow Ma...
