My Cucur Quality

Salam all, As usual I would like to share an outdated recipe. I made this some time ago after a 5 days workshop (bukan workshop kereta ye..) at a hotel in Shah Alam. During my stay there, I was like addicted to this food serve by the hotel's kitchen. The interesting part is that, this food is served hot at almost every meal time (breakfast, lunch and sometimes for dinner). I just love the taste. The crunchy taste that can be chewed comfortably. You can also taste the fresh carrot sliced into it. It is very delicious. Many of the workshop participants agreed with me, as we will normally wait patiently for the food to ready to be served at the serving station. Looking below is my version of the food I described earlier. Some might say, "What? Cucur? What so special about the cucur? Why go to hotel for cucur? You can easily make one." Yes, I agreed to all the statements above. It is so easy to make cucur. But I like this cucur, and I find it special as it was crunchy. Shamel...

Kue Tiao Soup

Salam all, The same question popped up over and over again when the office hour is almost over ... what to cook for tonight. I listened to a motivational talk one day saying that many women wasted their energy unnecessarily by thinking what to cook. But I still believe that we need to really think of what to serve our family especially if that will make them happy and healthy. So, here goes the question: "What's for tonight?". At times I tried to get my husband to solve my problem even though I know that the answer will be a very frustrating one, "Apa-apa je lah". But I still ask, hoping that one day a better answer will be uttered. Asking the kids will more likely receive a very truthful answer. And for last night when given choices between the rice or the kue tiao soup, they eagerly answered "Kue Tiao Soup". This is how my kue tiao soup looks like. To top up the taste, I blended some hot fresh chillies (cili api) and mix it with the dark soya sauce....

Macaroni Soup with Croutons

Salam all, Just trying out the new interface. I'm not sure why, but I dont quite like it. Perhaps it takes more time for me to adapt to the new UI. What worries me most as I failed to update the blog using my new gadget. Anyway, lets share what we had for dinner last night. It's macaroni soup with croutons. Thinking what to cook is always a problem. A quick survey (asking the two kids at home), landed me with the idea of making macaroni soup. And since Hakim likes croutons so much, I decided to serve it with croutons.

Mee Goreng Ibu

Salam all, Thinking about what's for dinner is always not my favorite things to do. Especially when eating out is not an option. On one wonderful Sunday I opt for a mee (yellow noodle) goreng. Since I prepared it, I called it ' Mee Goreng Ibu' nothing resembles the famous Mee Goreng Mamak . Mee Goreng Ibu The Ingredients: Yellow noodle 1 packet Minced meat Prawns 2 tablespoon of chilli paste 2 tablespoon of tomato ketchup 2 tablespoon of dark soy sauce Vegies salt to taste shallots and garlic cooking oil Tauhu and basil - for garnishing (add taste too) My method : Fry the shallots and garlic in 2 tablespoon cooking oil till fragrant or brownish Add the minced meat, chilli paste, tomato ketchup and dark soy sauce. You may add some water to let the meat tender Add the prawns (I add it later because I dont want it to be over cooked) Add salt and sugar to taste Add vegies and the yellow noodles. Mixed well. And ready to be served. Optional: To add the taste it is best to add...

Roti Benggali

Salam all, How about a "ROTI BENGGALI" for dinner tonight? I've been longing to eat the roti benggali. However, it's not so easy to find one here in Shah Alam. Making one is the solution. A google search for a "Roti Benggali" landed me to two cooking blogs: tiffinbiru.blogspot belongs to the famous Cik Mat Gebu and the other is the Baby.... Both provided me with an almost similar recipe. The recipe is as follows: The ingredients: (A) 350 gm bread flour 1table spoon shortening (l used butter) A pinch of salt (B) Lukewarm water (120-160ml or 220ml) - different measurements from two different different recipies. l used 200ml and found it a little too soft. 1 tablespoon yeast (mauripan) 2 tablespoon coarse sugar How to: 1.
